Golfing emigrants from Scotland
With the Ryder Cup being held later this year at Gleneagles, just ten minutes from our office, golf is on our minds. So we thought it might be interesting to delve a little into golf history with this map, showing the origins of some Scottish golfing emigrants to the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some of the names are very well known - Auchterlonie, Braid, Park - others, less so. There are professional golfers, caddies, clubmakers, greenkeepers and instructors. This is an ongoing project and we will be updating it in the run-up to the Ryder Cup.
