Images of Scotland

Late last year, the British Library released a collection of more than a million images taken from 17th, 18th and 19th century books. Many of these were illustrations of scenes in Scotland before the invention of photography. Here at Old Scottish while developing our ancestral maps, we decided to combine the two into a clickable map of Scotland. Zoom in and out using the slider on the left or double-clicking anywhere on the map. Clicking on a map pin opens up a window showing any images from that location. Clicking on an image will take you to a full-size version of the image. This is very much a work in progress, and we will be adding more images in the near future.
